Biography

Mimi Bauer

Mimi Bauer resides in Fort Lauderdale with her husband John, an International Businessman and Diplomat.

Her love of art began while studying Architectural Design in her native Colombia. Subsequently she studied painting and art history in England and Germany, with emphasis on the impressionist period. Her love of art history compelled her to follow in the footsteps of the painters she admired so she decided to become a painter herself.

In 1999 she was a founding member of Atelier de la Mer in Fort Lauderdale, a group of friends dedicated to painting and camaraderie. Her paintings soon came in demand among her friends and acquaintances, and eventually were bought by others at Charity Events. She is widely collected in her community and also internationally. Her paintings hang in the homes of prominent Floridians, in the Capital Grille Restaurant and also at the Lynn Cancer Institute in Boca Raton.

Mimi’s natural gift of art appreciation and painting happy picturesque sceneries is mostly inspired by her worldly upbringing and travels. Inspired by the Impressionist period, her colorful paintings create an ever growing popularity. The viewer is carried back to wonderful scenic memories and continuous reminders of having been there. Her paintings are full of sun, snow, and joy of living.  In her words: “even when I was young, painting fascinated me…I felt the need to paint but at that young age, I did not yet have the technique and experience of a real painter.   A lot of hard work, studies, and discipline finally allowed me to express what I really artistically was feeling and could accomplish.”

Mimi attended the art school of the Boca Raton Museum of Art for several years, and has participated in numerous workshops by renowned artists.

She believes in painting serene sceneries and beautiful surrounding that are pleasing to the viewer.  Of her paintings it has been said that they are “happy and uplifting.”

All her paintings are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
